7 Card Stud is one of the many poker variations. It is a version of the regular poker game, but with a different set of rules. 7 Card Stud High Low is a version of the game where the highest hand wins the pot.

The standard poker game in 7 Card Stud High Low is that the lowest hand gets half of the pot. 5 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud High Low are the two variants of the game.

When we play 7 Card Stud High Low we need to remember that the highest hand combination in the deck is going to win the low. The dealer sets 4 random cards in the deck and deals each player 4 cards. The cards are dealt face down and the person with the highest card begins the game. This person is referred to as the shooter.

Every round after the first card is dealt the dealer deals 2 cards to each player. The people with the lowest hand take turns dealing. The shooter draws a new card from the deck when he reaches to the end of the deck. The end of the deck is determined by counting the seeds from the 4 random cards. These seeds are the 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10. Counting the seeds is simple, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8.

During the high low games there are a lot of small pots to be won. Since the difference in the low and high hands is less than in the other variations, the pot is divided fairly evenly.

Now, to understand how the 7 Card Stud High Low works, let’s go over some of the essential rules.

Next, the players are dealt 5 cards, face down. Betting begins with the bring-in, the player with the lowest value of visible cards is required to make the bring-in bet. Once completed, the visible cards are counted at their face value.

The players then decide if they want to hold or fold. Most players will fold, as the poker odds are against them. For example, statistically, there are 40% more 10s in the deck than there are 4s.

After this, the players choose to either stay in the hand by either calling, raising or folding. Once decision is taken regarding a player staying in, the betting moves around the table from those players who are staying in.

There are now 4 community cards dealt out. These cards are placed face up in the middle of the table.

At this time, the player with the highest face value cards starts the betting. This is usually referred to as the 4th Street.

The players can check, call, raise or fold, after this the betting moves around the table until it reaches the player with the best hand. The fourth street starts when the 4th card is dealt out. This card is dealt face up and another round of betting now ensues.

Finally, after the fifth and sixth cards are dealt out, the final round of betting starts. Players will now have a choice to either stay, fold or bet. If your hand is stronger than all the others, then you would either stay, raise or fold.

The player that remains in the hand finally decides to bet. Your hand is ready to show your best hand once you have seen the dealer’s card. The dealer’s card is the 7th card.
